Slaves pull diamonds
out of the mud
and those perfect sharp points
become crowns
on false promises.
I see women, in big SUVs
married
taken
beautiful
unlike the unmarried kind
the sophistication and class of these women
is unmatched
they dress in silk blouses with frills
their business pants are satin black
their underwear is barely visible
I don’t know where they shop at
but I would love to have a summer job
managing their dressing rooms.
The point is
anything beautiful with points
gets fondled with promises
but people can’t hold onto anything
a ring
is false infinity
it gets thrown-out of a car window
sold to pawn brokers with big noses
it’s metal and carbon
a business
love is a feeling
a promise
love doesn’t last
it’s beautiful.
