I talked to the counselor,
and she told me,
“You look like you work at Blockbuster Video
because of your blue shirt.
I helped a handicapped child get a job there.”
“Maybe, I need to get a new shirt,” I said.
“No. No. It looks good on you. What am I saying…? You’ve probably never been to Blockbuster Video. You’re so young.”
I’m glad the old
think I’m young
but I’m not that young.
“I used to go there with my family,” I said. “They liked to watch, but I enjoyed perusing the DVDs. I still do it on my way home from work.”
“How?” She asked.
“At the library. It calms me down.”
Then she talked about going to Berkley
where everybody ran around naked.
“I was a surfer,” she said.
“I wonder why people need a 4-year degree
to feel comfortable taking their clothes off.”
“They do it in Seattle.”
“That’s true.”
The bell rang, and she had to leave.
Where do these weird conversations come from?
I seem to bring them out in other people.
I am an event coordinator and people tell me all kinds of stuff.
