Where have the women gone
if the men, follow their women
to book clubs, after 50
to tea parties and bake sales, after 40
to weddings, after 30
to clubs and college, after 20
to shopping malls, after 16
Where have the men gone?
a man can spend years seeking the truth
only to discover
he is seeking, what other men have been seeking
for centuries
and it’s not the truth,
but something dangerous and fun
all of his seeking
and planning
and bold desires
are diverted, by a light touch
melting his heart
to lead men
into the field of battle
Changed, by what he can’t harm
he plows a plot of land
to plant the many pieces
of his soul.
Beautiful words and thoughts. Yes, often what cannot be, shapes us to be our true selves. The last line could be defeat or triumph. It depends upon the perspective. 🙂
